Is the Loofah or Pouf your Shower Accessory?
Share
Scientist have confirmed what many of us already knew, or suspected about the popular shower accessories; they're filled with germs. Although, there are great benefits when using these accessories, like achieving an amazing lather from your soap or body wash, exfoliating the skin and even stimulating blood circulation.
These benefits can lead to unexpected risk. Immediately after hanging the pouf in your shower to dry, it's still collecting moisture and steam which causes bacteria and mold to develop and increase.
Here's a fact: Properly cleaning and drying your pouf after each use is key to reducing bacteria and germs. Instead of just hanging the pouf in your shower area give it a wring to get out any excess water and store it in a cool dry place.
It is important to use loofahs and poufs safely, which means replacing them on a regular basis. Cleveland Clinic recommends switching out these accessories once per month.
Ready to ditch the pouf but keep that soapy exfoliating experience?! Try a foaming body scrub or an exfoliating shower towel, these can go right in the washer and be reused multiple times.
